Every Monday is New Years Day in fitness.
Today is an even more important New Years Monday because it’s the first day of school for most.
Today also marks Summer winding down, work schedules solidifying, vacations coming to an end.
The next weeks and months leading up to the Holidays are the BEST time to get in and make some solid positive changes.
And the number one rule for serious results is, was, and always will be consistency.
Consistency with both your exercise and your diet.
But exercise is easier, than diet. And I’ve noticed when clients start working out their diets tend to naturally clean up (some not all).
What’s the Number ONE thing you can do to guarantee success with your workout plan?
#1 Show Up
Simple. Not always easy. But it works every time.
Show up and keep showing up and don’t worry so much about what you’re doing once you get there.
In the beginning you’re really not trying to build or reenforce the exercise habit, you’re building your “showing up” habit.
And like they say 80% is showing up and it really is when it comes to getting and staying in shape.
Over the years I’ve developed and used hundreds of mental tricks to get myself to the gym.
By far the most successful is…
The 10 Min. Rule
The 10 min Rule works when you don’t want to go to the gym.
I say to myself “I’m going to go for 10min and I’m going to get this started. If in 10min I’m still not feeling it. I’m leaving.
Some of my VERY VERY BEST workouts ever where on days that I had to use the 10min Rule to get myself there.
And I would have totally missed it, if I’d have skipped.
Remember also you’re either reenforcing good habits-showing up
Or you’re reenforcing bad habits-Not showing up
That’s why the 10min Rule is so powerful, you may bail after 10min, but you’ve STILL reenforced the showing up habit.
And that’s the first rule for real results.
Hope you have a great Monday!
