What happens when you leave a McDonalds hamburger out for 12 years?
Well the answer is not much.
This is from a 2008 (how did I miss this?) article about a 12 year old Mcdonalds hamburger from health educator Karen Harahan. Karen uses the burger as a prop in her Healthy Choices for Children Workshop in Lagrange Illinois.
Look at that thing-it’s perfect! Perfectly preserved, because it’s basically preservatives, and chemicals, and stuff-congealed together.
Karen call it a “chemical food” continuing that ” There is absolutely no nutrition here.”
Look at the photo below it’s impossible to tell the 12 year old burger from the 1 day old burger.
That’s nuts. And probably not the best thing to put into your body.
Maybe sometimes, definitely not often.
And I want to convey this isn’t to be a scare tactic.
(We don’t do fear or guilt or dwelling on past mistakes very well around here, don’t have time for it)
It’s to show you that not all food is well food.
It may look like like your moms hamburger-but it’s not the same thing. It looks like food, but it isn’t.
So it shouldn’t be a staple of your everyday diet. Because when you do eat a lot of “chemical food” daily bad things happen.
And there are reasons bad things happen, fast food is high in calories and no nutritional value at all. That’s the exact opposite of what you want.
So at the end of the day keep it to a minimum.
Talk soon.
