Happy NEW YEAR!
Sometimes even during this most opportune time to make a change in your life.
You can get stuck.
The “what if’s” stop us in our tracks from moving toward our fitness goals.
What if I can’t eat this or that on the program?
What if I’m the fattest person in the room?
What if I’m asked to do an exercise I can’t do?
What if I fall over and die from fear and embarrassment?
These kids of “what if’s” will hold you back from reaching your goals.
And the fact is…you have to be aggressive and kill them with the only cure.
Have you heard of the phrase?
“Action alleviates anxiety”
I like that phrase, because I see it at work all the time.
A new client will be super nervous before we begin and 5 minutes into the workout they’re focused and in the zone…And all the “what if’s are gone.
The action alleviates the anxiety.
So today I want to share 5 steps with you from a guy named Dan Kennedy.(you may see some of his quotes in my newsletter sometimes)
He’s not a fitness expert he’s more of a take action, get it done expert.
He has his own weight loss success story.8 years ago after being told he was on the road to type 2 diabetes.
He immediately changed his diet and kicked in an exercise program with the help of Dr. Cooper from the Cooper clinic in Dallas.
He quickly peeled off 45 pounds.
By keeping that off and watching his carbs and blood sugar he’s been able to keep the diabetes under control without medication.
Here are his action steps to not just getting more done.
But also how to consistently get started against resistance and stay moving towards your goals consistently.
You can definitely apply these to your fat-loss get in shape goals and you’re going to see much better results in less time.
I’ll give you his step then how you can apply it to fat loss.
Dan Kennedys action steps to get more done.
1. Start Immediately-Once you identify something you want, start immediately
-Join our Bootcamp or PT program now!
-Join a gym and start working out TODAY not next week. Thinking time is over take action time is here
2. Take Visible Action- So others know you’re serious
-Clean out all the junk food from your kitchen TODAY
-Tell your co-workers you’re not available from 5-6 M.T. TH- you’re working out and it’s not negotiable
-Let your family know you’ll be at the gym at 5am M/W/F and if they have a problem with that too bad.
3. Take Simultaneous Action, Not Sequential- Do lots of things at once
-Start eating better and exercising at the same time. Exercise without a change in eating leads no where. Dieting without exercise is slow and you end up skinny-fat
-Studies have proven that success in one area of your life (exercising consistently has carry over to improving other habits such as improved eating)
4. Be Congruent with What You Say- Behavioral Congruency
-If your goal is to lose 20 pounds and you find yourself with a donut in your hand this is incongruent behavior to your goals.
-If your goal is to lose 20 pounds and you find yourself with an apple in your hand this is congruent behavior to your goals.
-Tell everyone you know you’re going to lose 10 pounds in 30 days. Your friends will support you will help and cheer you along the way. Your frenemies can stew while you hit your goals. Everyone wins!
-Consistency is KEY here. THe person that meets with me 3 times a week consistently and does just does the work. Will see far better results than someone coming in once a week here or there or none.
5. Leverage Work- Rather than doing new
work all the time
– Don’t reinvent the wheel. Food journals work because you can always refer back to what was working. You just need a good day or week to work off of.
– If you can’t afford a coach or a boot camp pull workouts from the internet that are at least roughly designed for YOUR goals. Blindly Follow that plan for at least 12 weeks. It’s nearly impossible to NOT see results with a change of training and consistency.
So there’s your 5 steps you can take now to ward off the “What if’s” and avoid the regrets you’ll hear from people in the next 6 months.
Get moving in the direction of your fitness goals.
And may 2016 be your healthiest and happiest year ever!
Take lots of action,
Take it right now!
