One of the MOST common questions I get asked on a daily basis…
Why is nutrition and eating so hard?
And I get this question from lifetime exercisers who know how to eat well and have in the past.
And I get it from people that literally have NEVER ate in a healthy manner and were never taught how.
The struggle with diets and healthy eating is real!
After working with 1000’s of clients in the past 15 years..
I believe there are 2 general reasons for this.
1) Incomplete and fragmented nutrition information.
With the websites, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, magazines, books, television, radio, and especially friends and family giving diet advice…
How could you NOT get confused.
You get “Don’t eat bananas they’re high in sugar”
You get “Don’t eat carbs”
You get “Eat high protein, low fat”
You get “Eat a lot of fat, especially bacon”
You get “Carbs don’t make you fat, calories do”
And on and on and on….
And while they are all well meaning you rarely get a comprehensive, workable, flexible plan.
Because you’re only getting a piece of the puzzle and that leaves you confused.
And confused people don’t make changes.
2) The principles of a fat loss diet are universal the application is individual.
Meaning the information will work for most people the tricky part is making it work for you.
Q: What’s the MOST effective diet in the world?
A: The ONE you can stick with.
That’s why I’ve found it’s best to go one on one with clients and find a routine…
1) Works for their food likes and dislikes.
-You can have a perfect on paper diet but if it has green beans and the client hate’s green beans, you can be guaranteed it won’t work.
2) Works for their life schedule
-The diet needs and eating schedule and flexibility for for a 28 year old single professional girl will be different than that of a 43 year old stay at home mother of 3.
3) Works for their current situation and timeline for results.
-Quite often it’s better to simply change one diet habit at a time, I’ve learned that too much change too fast increased the failure rate.
If we’re looking for long term lifestyle changes, the diet will be less severe than getting 5 pounds off a bride in the next 2 weeks.
You individual situation and goals matter.
