Fort Worth Personal Trainer: One Simple Rule that makes Weight Loss Easier (VIDEO)
I have a friends who’s a vegetarian.
She wasn’t always a vegetarian, and then after dating a vegetarian, and grasping what really goes into out food production she stopped eating meat.
Sometimes I forget and when we go out to eat I’ll suggest something she doesn’t eat.
I’ll even ask don’t you even want a bite? She always says no.
Must be hard for her to resist every single time? Right?
Wrong.
Because when she decided to become a vegetarian she went in 100% with her rule “I will not eat meat”.
No
I might eat meat if it’s convenient.
or
I might eat meat if everything else is hard to cook.
or
I might eat meat if everyone else is.
The rule is “I won’t east meat”
And she’s in 100%.
It’s actually harder to not commit whole heartedly to something important to us.
We intend to get up earlier, to eat more protein, to lose that last 10lbs, to workout more consistently, but we keep getting distracted.
It’s our well meaning “99 percent effort” that’s exhausting.
It’s stressful to want something like to get in shape and not be fully committed.
You get off work and you know you should go to the gym, but the game is on tonight, and now you’re torn gym or game.
You decide to skip the gym and go straight home to watch the game, and you’re not totally relieved because you KNOW you should have gone to the gym.
Like I said 99% commitment is exhausting.
And like Jack Canfield says “99 percent
is a bitch. 100 percent is a breeze”
Think about that and think back to how much easier things changed for you when you went in 100%.
Is it hard? Sure everything is hard at first.
Like when I decided to go low carb to drop bodyfat for an Ultrarun I had signed up for.
It was difficult at first. Finding 2 or 3 fast low carb meals to go to, eliminating bread and sugar from my diet.
But after a couple of weeks I was in my groove.
I had my daily diet dialed in, knew what I could snack on, knew what to buy at the grocery store.
Tough at first..better with time.
Like everything you invest 100% into.
If getting in shape, showing up more consistently for your workouts, or you just want to tighten down your diet/
And 99%ing just isn’t working for you.
Here’s how to finally give it your all.
1. Identify exactly what needs 100 percent of your attention.
Is it changing up your workout, getting your diet dialed in, increasing your mileage, or a habit you need to quit altogether like soft drinks.
Not everything in your fitness life needs 100 percent of your attention.
Identify that one thing that is always on your mind, but you just haven’t pulled the trigger.
2. Put in the effort.
Commit to 5 workouts a week, prep your meals in advance of the week, clean out your cupboards.
Do the WORK.
The beginning is always the hardest but it does get easier.
3. Repeat (Again and again and again)
This is why when I’m sitting with new clients, I emphasize SHOWING UP above everything else.
If you’re going to make something a habit you have to execute it over and over and over and over…until it becomes automatic.
True joy is that happiness we feel when we move toward out potential.
The best part is when we devote 100% to a task a once hopeful intention a habit.
Not only do you get the physical benefits of working out more consistently, and eating better.
It gives you the mental space to set up for the next improvement.
Hope this helps.
Talk soon.
