One of the most common and important questions I get is what’s more important for weight loss and fitness?

While it’s true 85% of fat loss is nutrition and only 15% is exercise..
When it comes to getting started what’s more important?
What research and we have found is that in the beginning if you HAVE TO make a choice.
Focus on exercise
Focus on establishing the exercise habit by concentrating on simply showing up that first 6 days, 6 weeks, 6 months, even 6 years.
And there are REASONS we recommend this.
First exercise is a keystone habit in that we know when you exercise consistently other good habits like improving your diet becomes easier.
Any person that’s exercised regularly for any length of time will tell you “It’s just easier to east well when I’m working out”
And it will be the same for you too.
If you are able to front load your exercise in the morning we’ve found EVEN better more dramatic improvements to diet over time.
What’s interesting is that when diets are improved there’s no correlation to improved exercise habits.
This really is a one way street.
There’s also the fact that for clients over 32 exercise also acts as a signal to the body to regenerate and renew slowing the aging process.
If you’re over 50 years of age you can even reverse the aging process by establishing an exercise habit.
On the cellular level exercise for those over 50 sends a signal to the cell to create more mitochondria and to regenerate telomeres.
These are all signs of young cells.
And you can trigger this with exercise.
So when DO you kick in nutrition?
As soon as you’re ready and you’ll know.
For my clients it’s immediately because we have the plans, expertise, coaching, and support to help them do two things at once.
If you’re on your own I’d tell you to focus on showing up and establishing the exercise habit first.
The dieting will take care of itself in good time.
