Fort Worth Personal Training: 3 Top Tips for Staying on the Fitness Track this 4th of July! (VIDEO)
Not all clients or people are the same.
When giving How to Stay on Track during the Holiday
I have to strike a balance with clients I have that have been partying hard since last Thursday and they won’t stop until next Monday.
And my (usually newer) and more type A clients that a Holiday indulgence, a celebration, or a birthday party isn’t going to throw them entirely off their plan.
But I understand their very real concern.
They don’t want to start that domino effect of one missed workout turns into 6 months off and one or two relaxed meals turns into a 20 pound weight gain.
So you have to strike a balance.
How to have fun, stay on track, reenforce the best habits, and feel good about your decisions.
So we’ll get right to the BEST tips for staying on track during the July 4th Holiday.
1) Exercise first thing in theĀ morning.
Reenforce that KEYSTONE habit that will spillover into a lot of other better habits.
Why first thing.
Because no one is looking for you.
It reenforces you’re a get up take action get it done person.
You’ll feel better all day.
You’ll make better food choices.
By noon you forgot you did it.
2) 2/3 Rule for Eating
Holidays are like when you’re traveling or socializing during the holidays.
You control what you can control and don’t sweat the rest.
2/3 Eating Rule says…
1) Eat a healthy supportive breakfast.
If you’re going to do a calorie overload don’t do it here.
Since you probably exercised this morning you won’t feel like it anyway.
2) Healthy supportive lunch.
It’s HOT, you’re on the go, and you still have some control over what you’re eating without having to deal too much with food saboteurs.
3) Dinner is the Wildcard.
Now you can let go.
You’ve stayed on track during the vast majority of the day, you’re following your plan, now don’t worry about the calories, it’s one day or just a few meals.
3) Control your Environment
Have healthy snacks like fruit, vegetable you’ll actually eat, and protein and meal replacement shakes available.
Just having it easy and within reach when you’re tempted by a food you’ll regret later helps a lot.
Make it easy to be successful.
Plan ahead and never feel bad about making yourself and your health a priority.
