Some day’s suck.
There’s no doubt that some workouts you’re going to have are for no obvious reason are going to be terrible.
You’re flat in the warm-up.
Weight’s that normally fly off the ground you can barely pick-up.
You can’t get a rhythm going when you run.
Everything feels heavier than usual and every exercise is a chore.
You’re having a bad workout.
All in a about 20 min. you’re going through this.
And it’s most shocking for you when you’re just starting out, because you ask yourself “is this permanent am I ever going to feel better when this is over?”
Here’s an old gym/school rule of thumb for good and bad workouts so you know what to expect, and you won’t panic.
The Rule of 5.
The Rule of 5 states that for every 5 workouts…
1 workout is going to feel like you’re winning the gold in the olympics that day.
3 workouts will feel like going to a factory job, and you’re going to have to punch the clock and get the job done.
and lastly.
1 workout is going to feel like you’re dragging your ass across broken glass and asphalt every rep, every set, every step of the way.
The problem is if you don’t know about the rule of 5, you can think that one bad workout is your future.
And it’s not.
But here’s the deal with dealing with bad days.
Yes you’re going to have a bad workout now and then.
Even when you’ve done everything right to prepare. You’re sleeping enough, eating and drinking right on schedule.
And BLAM! nothing no spark, no snap, it’s sucking and you’re just hoping it will be over soon.
And it will be.
Most often times, you just have to grind it out, one step at a time
And you’ll fight another day.
That is the deal and the Rule of 5.
Keep it in mind on those great days when the weights are light, your feet are fast, and you can do no wrong.
And on those inevitable bad days. That they too will pass.
Hope you have a great one today.
Talk soon.
